Some tracks consistently become inaudible

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Produce music in Cubase
  2. Realize that a track has decided to become inaudible (no sound) and that it is not muted
  3. Save the project and re-open to make that track audible again.

This is driving me up the wall.

Each project load takes 2min!! (happening 8-10 times a day)

Losing momentum and time because Cubase can’t get its poopies together.
Incredibly frustrating for a DAW to exhibit such a syndrome.

Cubase 13.0.41

Been reported by other users.

Also had this issue with C14.0.20 Pro in a vocal group in Windows 10, tracks were all playing fine before I tried in C14. ended up copying one of the other tracks and replacing the duplicated track by the formerly inaudible content to save some time then readjust the balance etc…

Of course both the track and its clips were not muted, properly routed and leveled and panned to be audible, also there was no solo mode going.

BTW: I did not* even have any plugin inserted or sends on that track and all other tracks in that same group were playing fine.

It is possible that the bug only manifests when importing an older song (e.g. C10-C13 ) but not 100% sure about that.

Very frustrating, as this is basic routing we are talking about here.

I was sure it was a plugin causing overload.

But maybe it is more than that going by your description.

I havent had it occur in C14 yet.

Interesting, though in my case I can confirm there was just a few acoustic guitar tracks on the top of vocals so about 6 tracks and not many plugins so in my experience far from overload (which the visual bargraph seemed to confirm as it was like 25%).

With my main DAW (S1) ; I frequently go 16+ tracks with Pop/EDM projects and it does have issues too but not issues like that, that keeps you wondering for 20+ min before you decide to workaround your tracks that you should not need to.

It’s sad because I really like cubase features, if only they could work more robustly and be smarter/simpler to use; it could become my preferred DAW.

I’ve experienced this too (and posted about it elsewhere on this forum). In my case, duplicating the inaudible track makes the duplicated track audible. At least there’s a workaround but yeah, this is bad.

I have the same. C13.0.55 . You can duplicate, but soon it happen again, so it will go forever :). It happen for me only in heavy load projects, i mean many tracks. I think this bug will go to the same forgotten list and Cubase will push forward to the next versions, because they working on new functions and don’t care about old.

I think creating a clear, simple and reliable way to reproduce this will go a long way to get this some attention. Unfortunately, I don’t have that - my issue happens on an in-work project that I can’t share since it’s an unreleased track (for now).

If you have a reproducible case that you can share, please do!
