Something like a "Song Stack"?

Hi,

I’m using VST Live to run a Keyboard + Vocal set and I’d like to know if it is possible to have some sort of “song stack” - something like a global stack but just for one song. The idea is that I want to run multiple patches for the Keyboard on different parts of the song, but keep the same vocal stack. I know it’s possible to copy the vocal stack, but if I need to change any parameter, I would need to change it on every part as well.

Thank you!

Whar is the reason, not using a global stack vor vocal?

Yes, agree with you, that can make the project very “unmanageable”. I think you need to tweak the GLOBAL-STACK for this purpose and automate changes / song.

Because songs can have very different chains vocal. Let’s say one song needs a radio-like effect and other needs a slapback delay. I know there are some workarounds with automation, but I just believe it would be easier if we could have something like a global stack for each song or a “shared stack”.
The concept of “parts” is very handy for me, because I can change patches and effects very easily through the song. However, whenever I create a new “part”, I need to insert all the effects again.

Global Stack is your friend with some automations / song. U will definitely enjoy just simply enable/disable sends and inserts, while you will have a constant overview

I would also go with global stack and automation. This works very smoothly. Maybe it looks like a lot of work in the beginning, but its easy to maintain.

I’ll give it a try. Thank’s, guys!

I guess I’m echoing the original poster’s thoughts: something between a Global Stack and the individual Part Stacks-- like a Song Stack-- would be incredibly useful. Seems like it would be a lot more efficient & time-saving. (Granted, I’ve only been using VST Live for about 2 weeks, so if I’m missing something, please let me know.)

I’ve got 7 songs I’m currently setting up in VST Live. Each song has a completely different guitar setting-- different amp modeler, different EQ settings, different effects, etc. BUT, those settings basically stay in place thru the entire song. So it’s incredibly tedious to set up a dozen of the same stack for each song (Verse 1, Chorus 1, Verse 2, etc) and then decide the amp treble needs to be tweaked down a bit, and then have to go & edit 12 stacks.

It also seems inefficient to have one Global Stack for the guitar, and then have to automate all the changes/settings between songs. And that seems like more opportunity for things to go wrong. If you simply had a Stack that applies to a whole song, but only that song, that would be easier to use, more intuitive & more practical.

I play several genres during a show (three to four). I have different instrument and vocal settings (inserts and sends) for each genre. If I could carefully prepare complex stacks for these three to four genres in advance, I would then simply use them in individual songs.
