Song media files - one plus routine please

Hi! For media file relinking would you please add a few lines to be able point the folder and let VL to find the missing ones if available?

In midi, dmx, … there are sometimes a load of long-numeric-filenamed files, impossible to find for human. (But would help with audio and video files too)

should find all others once you found one.

Worked before, yes… a few months ago surely, but nowadays facing with that bug:

Can you please do the testing/receipe? For me its working absolutely wrong unfortunately. So wrong, I havent catch in time so two of my STEMS were quiet on sunday :’(

  1. Disable: import media files to local folder
  2. Make a test song and import a few(!not 1, but a few) stems
    (E.g. \user\music\MySong\Stems*.*)
  3. Save and quit
  4. Move your Stems to e.g ..\Stems-1*.*
  5. Relocate media files
  6. Check the result

For me, stems are imported to default folder too, Meanwhile some files will be shown and muted due the bug, some will be relocated to the duplicated files, some will be still missing

will do!

This should work now, right?

Hi @musicullum ,

Sorry, had my last “The Tale of Winter” yesterday.
Tested now, thank you, the relocate-media runs correctly:

  • no unexpected copy-import
  • perfect relocation after finding first-selected file.

If you can later put that extra lines what I kindly asked before:
If no single-file is selected, just navigating into a folder: Allow user click “open” that will run search for missing file(name).

Because - You’re right, not a big deal for audio stems, but - when have “Save Archive” missings-assets (happens) therefore copying e.g. DMX folder manually to another computer, belive me, scratching my head finding marker/dmx files like (can’t copy-paste filename from missing-mediafile-line and these long-numeric-filenames are a bit too much for human-eyes):

Does it makes sense why asked for? No lazyness, I swear!

why not just copy entire folder content?

good question!

One example: a way to clean assets is e.g. “export archive” and put back clean. But if can’t find some, pointing to orig folder while allowing ImportCopy (to put back missing files). Finally I have a maintenanced marker/dmx/midi-folder. This is just an example.

Second example: Sometimes need to copy ONE-SONG only to my another-computer. But sometimes the One-song happens to suffer from missing-assets (1-2-max3) and willed to solve this as soon as possible… so navigating to a BigArchive… and spending long time scrolling to find missing…

Third example: when a storage-location change (for any reason) is made by user, the re-find can be way more quicker.

So long story short: the auto-find can be a workaround for another necessarry workarounds
