Hi, I have Halion sonic SE which is integrated in Cubase 6.5.
If I wanted to buy Halion Sonic 2 do I only need the upgrade package, or the full?

With Cubase 6.5 you received a Trial version of HALion Sonic, you need to purchase the activation code.

And purchase the HALion Sonic (Activation Code)

I just thought it worth mentioning not to forget the option to buy the Absolute Collection, which will also get a free upgrade to HS2. For $50 more you would get Dark Planet, Hypnotic Dance, Triebwerk, and the Padshop Pro expansion.
Just something to consider.

You would need the full version. The upgrade is from “Halion Sonic”, which is not the same as “Halion Sonic SE”. However, there’s a better option, see below:

Good tip. Actually, as a Cubase user you could use the Absolute Collection upgrade option. Then you’ll get HS2 and those additional VSTi’s for the same price as HS2 alone…!
