SOOO Tired of Cubase crashing when closing projects

I cannot believe this still isn’t fixed. Cubase has been doing this to me more than half the time when I close a project. It either crashes or just hangs. Either way I have to restart my system to free the audio driver.

Not to mention the fact that it crashing tends to screw up the recent file history in the Hub for the most recent project. Why isn’t the project name saved to the recent files list when the project file is actually SAVED, and not when Cubase closes??? So weird.

Hi,

A crash/dmp file from you could help to bring some light.

Mac: macOS Console utility > User Reports folder or Crash Reports in macOS 10.15 (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).
Win: Documents/Steinberg/Crash Dumps

This has been a common issue for me for the last few Cubase versions.

When a project gets any bigger than maybe around 10 tracks it will always cause Cubase to freeze when closing.

Closing via the task manager and reopening Cubase is normal practice for me these days when changing projects.

Usually it’s enough to restart it. Go to task manager, open services and restart “audiosrv”

Martin, this crash rarely creates a crash dump file.

Thanks! I’ve been wanting to know what is the service that needs to be restarted. I’ll try that next time.

I had that a lot before, when using 6.5/9.5/10, but since I’m on 10.5 it doesn’t happen anymore, or very rarely.
Downloading my 11 upgrade right now so I’ll install it along 10.5 in case, to see if the problem is back but I hope not.
