Hi all,
I have a chorale section in one piece where the soprano 1 voice is almost inaudible. I put a fff dynamics on her and have her slider all the way to the top in the Play, but I can still barely hear it. Any thoughts?
If this helps, she’s also almost inaudible in the other flows as well.
Does the problem still happen if you reapply your Playback Template?
If so, please attach a small version of the project that we can examine.
So I reapplied the playback template and the soprano is back, but it took out all the Cantai settings, so the solo voices no longer work, and it took out all the VSTs I had assigned to the various synthesizer parts in the piece. Everything’s gone.
Yes, well unless you had all your custom changes saved in a custom Playback Template, it would have just gone back to the default settings of the Playback Template you chose.
Hopefully you saved your project first?
I can revert I suppose, but then the soprano will probably be gone again.

I’m not sure what you mean by “small version.” It’s a large, multi-flow piece. How could I extricate one flow from it? Also, the problem is in every flow.
assuming the problem can be seen in the first flow then I’d just export that separately. Or delete all the flows in your project other than the first (obviously saving under a new name first) and save that. If the whole choir uses Cantai, it would take some time to render so best if the project is not too large so we can reproduce exactly and see if we have the same issue.
And do this work on a copy of your file so your original is safe.

Have we hung up on this? I guess I can just reapply the Playback Template, then reset all my VSTs. Luckily, I kept a record of them.
Where can I figure out how to set up a custom playback template. (I can’t find it in the manual) so I don’t have to start from scratch next time?

Before doing this you should first save your chosen sound set up as a Custom Endpoint, which you can then include in your Custom Playback Template.
I thought this project was using Cantai for the voices which is particularly what I wanted to test? Looks like everything is set to Halion Sonic. Anyway, I get no sound at all on this project for some reason (I don’t have Iconica installed but most of the tracks are not Iconica anyway) so it’s hard to do much diagnosis unfortunately.
So the Cantai voices are in other flows. They disappeared, along with the VSTs, when I reapplied the Playback Template. (Also, with Cantai, the only way to control the volume is with the sliders in Play. They don’t respond to dynamic markings.) The Soprano 1 and flute parts are both HALion. I had planned on using Cantai for the choral voices but it’s so hard to use that I haven’t bothered yet. It just slows everything down. I’m thinking of taking all the Cantai out until the piece is finished.
OK, I can see how to create a Custom Playback, thanks to you, but how do I create a Custom Endpoint? Sorry for asking simple questions, but I can rarely find what I need in the manual. (I know, they worked hard on it. But I have trouble with it.)
