Sound card RME Fireface UCX nothing working

Hello, till yesterday, I used a sound card RME Fireface UCX under Cubase and Wavelab…!

But today, when I switch on the computer, all the diods turn on and stay lit… Sometimes the diodes are flashing especially “clip” and “sig”, but nothing is working…

Do you have an idea ? Thank you… François

Hi,
have you tried to switch the USB port or tried another cable?
Also, make sure that you have downloaded and installed the latest firmware & driver.
Which OS are you on?

Hi Reco, thank you so much ! I gonna try to replace the cable !!! Several types of cables for a connexion by “fireware” behind my computer… :

  • Small one that I use from the beginning

  • and those with a kind of arrow (flat and thin)

    I disconnected the sound card from the computer… If a new firmware is available, would it be necessary to uninstall and reinstall everything ?

A firmware update does not require an uninstall and reinstall. It will update everything automatically.

Hi Reco, exactly what I did do, few minutes ago ! I changed the cable with a solid one… But nothing else… The diods turn on and stay lit…

I experienced more or less the same thing with my own UCX unit very recently : as I was achieving a recent move, and after reinstalling laboriously all my stuff in the process, I noticed immediatly its new “christmas tree” behavior, with several clicks and pops coming from nowhere and none of the expected sounds, beside these.

Actually, after looking further, I mistakenly connected the UCX to a wrong AC adapter : retrieving the right one solved immediatly the issue. So, if the advices already done rightly still haven’t solved yours, I would also begin to question the state of the said adapter.

Thank you Cubic13… I didn’t move my stuff and never changed anything !!! How can I check the “AC Adapter” ?

I checked the tension at the plug … Everything seems to be right : I read / 12,45V

Thank you Puli to encourage me to beleive it would be nothing ! But, now, I am a bit afraid to realize my sound card is “out of tune”…

As far as I understand it, the issue happens independent of any Steinberg product. Therefore I move the topic to the lounge. I, again, invite @Francois_PAOLI to turn to RME for advice.

Hi Johnny, of course, I know, it’s independant of Steinberg Product, but the users, we are, can work with this card and it’s the reason why I speak about my problem… For the moment, I’m looking for a way to replace the AC Adapter in order to get something able to give a bit more than 12V when plugged ! I understood what youmean and I am registering to access in a group “RME Forums”. Thank you.

Hi Johnny, after several tries, I fnally found an AC adapter which works with my sound card ! It seems to be right again ! But now I need to configurate my MIDI section.
