Is that based on personal experience?
This has been a trustworthy and reliabe site (driver) over the past years so I am actually shocked that this happened to the OP. Has this site turned bad? When??
Out of curiosity, why recommend V.2.17 as there are more recent versions available?
Because at that time the current version had probably not been officially released.
I am still asking myself how you got into that download mess. Maybe you already HAD some sort of virus on your PC which redirected the download?
As I said, ASIO4All is known to be absolutly simple & straightforward - never heard of anything like that before. See screenshot - easy peasy.
Excellent!
Hopefully, it was worth the troubleā¦
Please, turn your PC Off and On again to make sure that the ASIO driver is recognized. Now, go to Studio / Studio Setup / Audio System and pick the ASIO4All driver to the right.
Have a look at F4 Outputs as well - do you see an additional option for phones? If this is not the case donāt worry - try your phones output.
I keep my fingers crossed that this will solve the issueā¦
Interesting. I rebooted as you suggested. Now the phones work, but the laptop speakers donāt even when phone jack is not plugged in. Is that how itās supposed to work?
Haha, one step forwards and one step backwardsā¦
As you correctly identified, sometimes there is an either/or selection on laptop audio chips whenever the phone jack is plugged in.
Please, open your audio connections (F4 > Outputs): Can you add an additional bus that is routed to your speakers?
Thank you for the screenshot!
Please, click on āAdd Busā in this windows: do you have additional options other than the one already selected?
Was this screenshot taken with your headphones plugged in? It looks like itās from when no headphones were plugged in.
I recall when I was doing this in Cubase at Superbooth, I had to remember to change this screen when I plugged into the headphone jack.

Well, Iāve got the system making sound on the headphones, and also working through speakers via the USB to a Komplete Audio 2 audio interface. It would have been nice to get it to work simply through the laptop speakers (which it does for other things like Youtube), but at least there was some progress. Thanks for your help.
Hi,
Komplete Audio 2 has dedicated ASIO driver, so the routing of the signal is taking in account.
Where it says 2nd output with SST 1 if you click there do you see other optionsā¦like 1st output?
Try any other options to see if they route to speakers.
Oddly, there are no options for ā1st outputā. Only ā2nd output.ā
By the way, what does SST stand for?
My work-around is to use ASIO4ALL when I want sound from the headphones, and use Steinberg built-in ASIO when I want sound from the laptop speakers. Not super pretty, but the $%^&* thing works, and itās good enough.
