Sound suddenly quits on playback

I finished a score and was listening to playback, in the middle I heard a click and the sound was gone. Everything else (computer sounds, media player, internet) work normally. The problem seems to be restricted to Dorico, regardless of which file I try to play. I’ve checked everything that I can think of. No idea if it means anything, but Finale won’t play back over VST , only Midi.

If you go to the Learn tab in the Hub, just today there was a video about troubleshooting playback. Hopefully you will find an answer there.

If one is using the NotePerformer demo, it stops work after half an hour of continuous use. One has to restart it (reload the program?).

If you continue having that problem, even after a reboot, you can create a diagnostic report (Help > Create Diagnostic Report) and post the corresponding zip file here. From the contained log files and things, I might be able to find something, or give further instructions. Also please write down and tell me the time when audio goes mute. Thanks

Dorico Diagnostics.zip (589.9 KB)

Thanks for the data, I’ll have a look now.

Could you please tell at least roughly the date and time when sound went away?

A first look at the diagnostics did not reveal much, so at least there wasn’t anything obvious. Also, I thought I would find crash reports of the audio engine, because this is quite often the cause for audio going down, but there is not a single one contained.

Therefore it is even more important that you tell me the rough date and time of when audio went away for you. Additionally I’d like to know, how well is this issue reproducible on your machine?

And when it happens the next time, definitely please send me a fresh diagnostic report? Thanks

It happened on ‎28. ‎October ‎‏‎about 22:40, I made the diagnostic report right after it happened. The sound is still off. I tried re-installing everything, but it made no difference. I can see on the mixer that the file is being played, but I can’t hear it.
