Why is there no sound except the metronome while recording? This is very irritating, especially when writing in parts.
Can you explain a bit more what’s happening?
Normally, if you record, you should get all the other parts playing along. But only the parts in the current layout.

I work at a church and arrange music for my ministry. We just switched over to OneDrive with the diocese. This may sound strange, but since we switched to OneDrive, Dorico has just been nuts. It was showing Sync error so today, I uninstalled and then reinstalled everything. The sync errors have subsided.
I got the metronome to work, barely. A bit of scratching, so I thought a cable to my speakers was loose, but they are fine.
It just will not play any sound except for the metronome. The green cursor is showing on each beat correctly.
I do have sound on other programs/apps, like YouTube. But I’m at my wits end for the day…
Finale is working fine. I had to adjust latency but sometimes I feel like that was the norm for the past 30 years I was using it LOL. I started with Allegro in 1996.
Is there an error or crash report I can send from Dorico?
Yes, you can create a Diagnostic Report from the Help menu, and then upload it here.
Are you using an iPad, or a desktop version of Dorico? Maybe move Dorico files to your local storage while working , and then put them back.
Can you upload a document which does this? If it works for others, then it will be a local configuration issue. If the document doesn’t work for others, then it will be some issue in the document itself.

You’ve configured an audio output in Edit > Device Setup …?
If it’s only happening in 4 files (but not others), can you upload one of the files?

at the time you created the diagnostic report, there was no other instrument plug-in loaded than DoricoBeep, which produces the sound for the metronome.
So please choose from the Dorico menu Play > Playback Template and in there select and apply the Auto template. That will then load appropriate instrument plug-ins and sounds.

Hi @Diane_Nestor , thanks for the diagnostics.
This time, when you created the diagnostics zip, you actually had a project loaded, but again, the project consisted of only a master channel, an effect channel and instrument channel for DoricoBeep (metronome) and nothing else. So again you are missing a HALion Sonic instance(s) to actually play your score. So again, please apply a playback template also for this project (and most likely also for the other 3 projects that you have trouble with).

@Diane_Nestor since the prerequisite for applying a playback template is to have downloaded and installed the sounds provided with your Dorico version, and the template not appeared as Factory, did you have installed HALion Sonic? If yes, it should appear in Play Mode [1], in VST and MIDI panel [2]:

Hi @Diane_Nestor , good point from @RafaelBorba .
I did check your diagnostics again and it shows me that you don’t have HALion Sonic installed, as well as no sound libraries for it.
You do have the ARIA player installed, which is fine and also works with Dorico, but in that case you’d need to create your own playback template or assign all sounds manually.
If you want to benefit from the factory playback templates (and they make life really much easier) then it is best to install HALion Sonic and all the sound libraries that come with it.
So I suggest that you go to the Steinberg Download Assistant and in the appropriate Dorico section press the Install All button
