Please refer to the two screen shots. Example 1 shots the page in Write Mode while the second shows the same page in Print Mode. How come they look different and how can I fix this second page so it looks like the page in Write Mode?

It is because they show two different layouts, 1st Trumpet in the Page View screenshot and 2nd Trumpet in the Print Mode screenshot.
Advice, open the Trumpet (Bb) 2 layout in Engrave Mode and do a Reset Layout.
@k_b is right. The top picture is Trumpet 1, the bottom one is Trumpet 2. There seems to be some manual vertical spacing involved in the bottom one, and I think it should be absolutely avoided, unless you really know what you are doing, and with very specific stuff…
Oh brother, I am so sorry for my mistake. It’s too early in the morning for me to be extracting parts. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Thanks again for your help, gentlemen.

Actually you shouldn’t be ‘extracting’ parts at all! 
You are right. Old Finale Vocabulary dies hard.
It wasn’t even the accepted way of creating parts in Finale for years before Finale’s demise.
