Spacing of notes

Hi! Does anyone have any idea how to make proper note spacing in the layout options? I have already tried many combinations, but no luck till now. The staff size has to be at least 7mm, and the margins are set to 12mm on all sides.

I would appreciate any opinion!

1.70 is quite a large ratio. This means that small notes will get proportionally less space (and large notes will get proportionately more space) than compared to a lower ratio. But you’ve set the minimum spacing to 2 + 3/8ths, and you can see that it applied to all notes smaller than a quarter! The default is 1 + 3/5ths.

Then your only option is fewer bars on the line.

Ben already covered most of it, but you can also make ledger lines protrude less from the noteheads (using the Properties panel) or make the distance between accidentals and noteheads a little smaller to buy more space.

I actually set the “Minimum space for short notes” value to 0; the very last setting in Engraving Options > Spacing Gaps allows the user to specify the minimum amount of space between two items and I believe when the “Minimum space for short notes” setting is disabled the aforementioned value kicks in and prevents notes from piling up in systems that are <100% full regardless of what the spacing ratio says that space should be.
