Specific Finale cross-grade question

My son, who uses Finale 98 and got an educational discount when he got it has a question that perhaps someone here can help him with.

Does the new discounted cross-grade to Dorico count for a Finale version that old? And does his education license entitle him to automatically get the same from Dorico, or does he need to prove his eligibility for it from scratch?

Thanks.

Until someone officially answers you, if he has a MM account, he could sign in and see if the Dorico offer is there.
You might find the Dorico ed. price about the same anyway, take a look.

The times I have claimed an educational price (admittedly not Dorico but other software), it was not at all arduous, just a scan of what they require for verification.

Yes, any version of Finale, no matter how old, is eligible, provided it’s registered to him in his MakeMusic account. As @arco says, he needs to sign in to his MakeMusic account. If the offer is not there, he can contact MakeMusic for support.

Steinberg is not currently selling crossgrades from Finale to Dorico – all crossgrades to Dorico from Finale are being sold by MakeMusic (except in Japan). There is a single price regardless of whether you have a retail or edu Finale license.

You can of course buy a new educational license for Dorico Pro if you qualify, but if you already have a Finale license, it will be much cheaper to buy the crossgrade from MakeMusic.
