I just updated to 12 Pro, after watching the Demos, which showed “greatly improved” unmixing. But the Sax & Brass unmix was terrible; even after following the instruction to check “unmix Sax & Brass first.” By “terrible”, I mean, my Logic Pro 11.2 running on OS 15.5 (Studio Mac) separated the same brass part perfectly just using the “Other” setting. And Logic Pro /Studio Mac separated ALL the parts in a few seconds. (SL12 took 4 minutes to separate all the parts, and about 2 minutes to separate just the Sax part - which sounded far worse.)
Since posting, I have experimented with other settings: but nothing has yielded better results. But since Logic Pro 11.2 was able to separate the Sax track just by using “Other”, I tried doing this with SL12. No such luck, it was still worse. In addition, I mentioned above that a complete unmix of all parts took around 4 minutes. But when I tried putting SL12 in the background to do other tasks, that 4 minutes changed to 15 minutes - so running in the background only makes it go slower. (Background tasks were trivial, checking email, etc.) I have a brand new Studio Mac M4 so it should be fast. (I think SL 11 was faster). Also, the Guitar extracted track was not as good as the extraction in Logic Pro. The only extraction that was decent was the Vocal extraction; but again, no better - and much slower - than Logic Pro 11.2
In hindsight, I regret upgrading so soon! Especially the slow speed of the processing. I don’t remember the exact time with SL11 but it was significantly faster, I think less than 1 minute for the same processing.
same here, horrendous results taking an unacceptable time to unmix on a MAC (m4Pro). Took 30+ minutes for a 5:20 song, piano based instrumental, could not differentiate percussion (which was solo’d at the start) and piano which was split onto 2 separate stems…V11 was faster (even on the same mac)

Yes, this is not acceptable. Even though I was offered the discount upgrade price, clearly this version is not ready. Not only the speed problem; when Steinberg shows a demo of the app “new features”, but then they don’t work, that is not acceptable. Please let us know when there will be a fix.
