SpectraLayers 13.0.10 maintenance update available

Dear forum members,

today we’ve released the first maintenance update for SpectraLayers 13, the new 13.0.10 update. It contains many important fixes reported by our valued users, therefore we strongly recommend to install this first patch.

Please note: under some Windows versions it might be necessary to run a manual installation by opening the download folder after the download is completed.

The update can be downloaded either via the Steinberg Download Assistant or the Steinberg Support pages:

Here’s a full list of fixes and improvements:

Improvements

• Modules like Gain and Normalize now properly display a warning when the selected layer is muted
• Added a warning when trying to use Unmix Two Voices and Voice DeCrosstalk with sequences longer than 30 seconds

Tools and modules

• The Signal Generator module with the Square and Sawtooth signals no longer shows artefacts.
• The Fade module now adjusts the beginning and end of fades based on layers time limits.
• The Unmix Soundtrack module no longer shows issues with nulling with the original and volume values.
• The Unmix Two Voices and Voice DeCrosstalk modules with frequencies no longer show issues with audio material above 4KHz.
• The Ambience Match mode is now properly saved with the presets, and the Match Ratio can now go above 100%.
• The DePlosive module threshold parameter is now working as expected.

Stability

• Sending clips from Pro Tools to SpectraLayers using the AudioSuite Bridge on Windows no longer causes stability issues.
• The Polygonal Lasso tool no longer causes stability issues.

Miscellaneous

• The ProTools ARA plug-in now receives data on Windows correctly.
• Inserting time at the end of a project no longer causes issues.
• Hovering the spectrogram (despite realtime preview being disabled) no longer leads to issues.

This has happened to me on PC but also on Mac. I had to install Spectralayers 13.0.10 manually after downloading it with ‘Download assistant’.

SLP 13.0.10 patch issues

We are sorry for the inconvenience. Just prior to the planned release, we identified a problem with the silent installation behavior and made the decision to turn it off in the Steinberg Download Assistant. So, instead of the “Install” feature you’re accustomed to, the “Open” button opens the download folder for manual installation, just like in the old days. When the problem is resolved, it will revert to the more convenient behavior. Of course, the regular download page is still available as…

thank you so much for this update. Before the update it was working well on W11 and i9 last generation 2.7ghz 96 Go ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 24 Go

Now after the update when i use demix sound quality high SL stop working and so after a while (2 min) start demixing.

This happening after the update

Assuming v13, You should be able to just install 13.0.0 over 13.0.10. It might be better to just uninstall what you currently have and install the older version from wherever the Steinberg Download Assistant is set to store the downloads.

It does take about 20 seconds to start processing … has done in 13.0.0 and in SL12 too though. But not 2 minutes.

As far as I noticed in recent years Steinberg offers a trial license for their software a few weeks after the initial launch. So give it a little more time, it should be available soon.

Then on my Steinberg Download the version 13 doesn’t existe anymore

Yes before the update was very fast even less then 20 sec

I have an email now telling me the trial is available. If past experience applies, normally the full version is available for a trial period of 60 days giving you ample time to decide on your purchase.

I downloaded and activated SL13 but Cubase only loads SL Go - it was working perfectly with SL12. If I try and open the desktop icon for SL13 it only opens SL Go. I’m usin Win11 PC. Please assist. Thanks Rob

Activation is done in the Steinberg Activation Manager, not in the Steinberg Download Assistant.

Thank you MrSoundman - problem solved - but what’s the point of going through the redeem code step then not having the product automatically activated?

Yes, the double-apps thing is a bit convoluted.

But the underlying logic is that one thing is registering the codes into your account, which means that those redeemed softwares belong to that account. Another thing is activating those owned softwares in up to three different machines. You can activate deactivate software freely between machines, but the software won’t stop belonging to you.
