I have a frustrating problem when running SpectraLayers 10 as an ARA extension in Cubase Pro 13 (and 12) on a second screen.
When in SL10 the universal basic key commands - like Cmd-z for undo and Backspace for delete - won’t work. It is like Cubase doesn’t respect the integrity of SL10.
Using Cmd-z while in the active spectrogram window in SL10 will close SL10 and throw me back to Cubase, as if I had used the Undo command in Cubase.
Using Backspace for trying to delete a selected area in SL10 will instead delete the actual selected (SL10 extension) Part in Cubase as if I had used a delete command in Cubase.
SL10 doesn’t register those activities in its history panel but Cubase does.
All other ARA apps - like Melodyne, WaveLab usw. - behave as expected. But not SpectraLayers.
This is very very annoying since these key commands sit naturally in my hands and I can use them fluently in every other app without having to bother about unpredictable consequencies.
The standalone version of SpectraLayers doesn’t have this problem (perhaps since there wouldn’t be any other running app to compete with, regarding the key commands).
A couple of generations ago, like when the SL ARA extension was introduced in Cubase, it all worked correctly.
One would think it is a SpectraLayers bug since the other ARA apps handle key commands flawlessly. But SpectraLayers’ creator @Robin_Lobel Says it is not, he thinks it is about how the host (Cubase) handles ARA and he can’t reproduce it.
Anyone else with this problem?
I’m on Apple M1 and Sonoma OS, the same problem was there in Monterey OS. Native or Rosetta doesn’t matter.
