Hello / I’m trying out v12 and love it / before buying I need to see if I can use it without crashing Cubase 15 when I drag stems into the session. For me, unmixing is fine - just crashes a lot when I drag stems to the session. I’d appreciate any help. ![]()
Thanks Robin! Yeah, I’m aware that this is something that doesn’t happen in all systems, hence why I was expecting that after a clean install things would go smooth on my end, but that was not the case. I’m available for helping in anyway I can.
Sorry, I though you were aware of this issue already. So what happens is (when using SL12 as ARA in N14):
- Use SL12 on event X.
- Make extension permanent or remove extension on event X.
- Move on with work and use SL12 on event Y.
- Instead of the contents of event Y appearing inside of SL in the editor as expected, it is the contents of event X that keep showing up and sounding (hence the “sticky events” moniker). The only way of making event X go away is to close everything and reopen the project.
I hope this helps! And again, I’m available for testing and helping solve this in anyway I can. Last night I even had a nightmare in which ALL tools in SL12 were now laggy hehehe!
Thanks again. All the best to you!
This sticky event issue have I experienced to. I believe for the last two years (=versions) or so.
I’ve found that in Cubase there are several ways to make extensions permanent and empty the extensions section of the cache more or less successfully. Right clicking the Part and select ”make extension permanent” worked fine until 2 or 3 years ago. Then this sticky problem started. So I found that with a selected Part there’s a menu right above the project window’s ruler/time line; somewhere in the middle. If I select ”make extension permanent” there AND THEN select ”no extension” (or whatever the exact name is) from that same menu the stickiness stops and ”event x” will not show when I open ”event y” in SL ARA anymore.
Hope this will work for you henrique.
Hey man thanks for that tip!
I’ll try that as soon as the laggyness is solved.
@henrique_staino I sent you a couple private messages to see if we can narrow down this lagging tool issue. If others have this issue as well, please send me a private message as well.
@Robin_Lobel of course I have laggy selection tool issues. If clone stamp brush larger than 100 px, I have plenty of lag. Last week I was working on a 40 min duration audio. After several layers added, plenty of lag. I just feel like if you try to solve this in a private silo, you will arrive at a fix for some and not for others.
This is where we really need to separate the unmixer crowd from the manual selection users, because there are clearly two distinct user groups.
The issue reported by @henrique_staino is quite specific though, it’s a lag issue that happens even with very small brush, right from the start. It seem to only happen on a few computers. What you describe seems more related to large spectral area being processed at once, slowing down the tool responsiveness.
