I arrange and mix with Ableton and have the spectrum analyzer on to see the peaks, naturally. Anything over 0 would obviously sound like someone blowing raspberries with their mouth. Then I move on to WAVELAB for finalising the wav file.
But,…when I use the WAVELAB 8 Elements Studio EQ Effect with the spectrum function on…the levels are way over 0db according to the -30db to +30db scale on the left hand side.
Has the scale been overlooked during the software building? Is it purely a rough guide? If the Master volume reports limiting at 0db why then does the Spectrum in Studio EQ report otherwise? There is no difference PRE or POST master.

Can someone explain this? Because I’m scratching my head.
