You can convert the file from Pool. Right-click to the event in the Pool, and select Convert Files…

Thank you Martin for the suggestion. Unfortunately it only gives you the option to do a single mono or stereo interleaved mix. Would have thought that there would be an option for individual mono files but no such luck. But thank you all the same!
