i’m using a MIDI keyboard to input notes into Dorico.
I would LOVE it that input from this keyboard is automatically SPLIT between 2 staves - the grand staves of the piano, for example.
Most software allows you to do this, but for whatever reason, DORICO falls short.
usually, you can set a SPLIT POINT - (ex. C3) - and the notes above it appear on the top staff (treble) and the notes below it appear on the bottom staff (bass)…
WHERE IS THIS FEATURE???

Welcome to the forum, John. Dorico can handle this during real-time recording, but not in step-time input. It has been suggested before, and is on our backlog for future implementation.
so, after ‘recording’, or perhaps even after step input, is there any way to SPLIT the notes onto the staff?
if there were,ideally i would STEP in the notes, and then select the giant cumbersome blob of notes that gives me, and send half of them to the other staff…?
can this be done?
if so, i would simply ‘select all’ after the fact.
not sure why this software falls short on this issue - it is a feature in every other music notation software since 1986.
let me know!
thanks for the quick reply
You can select notes and move them to the other staff using Edit > Paste Special > Move to Staff Below.
Another option is to view the notes in a piano roll, zoom out until they are all visible, then dragged to select all the intended notes to be moved, and move them in one function.
