I am looking for an elegant way to alternate sung word, spoken word (rhythmic and not), and aleatory text within choral parts… and that they could all be supported by the Cantai library. I have seen a number of good hacks to incorporate the text, but no comprehensive extensible solution. It’s on my wish list at this point, but I will be crossing my fingers to find it in subsequent releases of Dorico and Cantai.
Unfortunately, Cantai remains very much in a Beta state with new and continued issues plaguing this promising but not yet properly developed VST for singing words. Issue reporting has been patronizing so I have stopped doing that. It’s a nice toy at this point but not much more. I wouldn’t expect spoken word at all at this point in its development.
Edit: I had an interesting new issue arise today where the Soprano (assigned to Ottetto: Women’s Voices for a fuller sound) returned a long blowing air or hissing sound (just like a snake or a cat) for 6 beats on the word “Amen.” The “A-” was on four beats moving quarter notes and the “men” on a half note followed by a half rest.
This is a new liturgical work for Pentecost. So, while I get Cantai’s interest in providing appropriate sounds, this rush of air for Pentecost was not appropriate in this context … 
I deleted and re-entered those notes and re-rendering did the same thing. I closed the file and reopened then it decided to render the appropriate text. Whew!
So, I suppose that was precursor to spoken text…
