Hi, i’m using Nuendo 14Pro on a Mac M4. Sequioa
And i have SSL 2x UF8 1x UF1 ans 1x UC1
All the things have the latest update’s
Now when i use the 360 vst on every chanel with for example a chanel plugin also from ssl then i see on my UF8 every channel 2 times. One as a channelln and one as a CS2
I wish i could see only one channel. Can somebody please help me?
I’ve got the same setup, but with one UF8. If I insert SSL plugins on an input channel, it shows in the 360 mixer, but not on the UF8 itself. Only project tracks are displayed on mine, both in C14P, N13, and N14.
Are you sure you’re not just seeing the “first 4” characters and the “last two” characters of your tracks displayed in the UF8? My “OB-X8tMIDI 01” and “OB-X8tPlugSE 01” both show up as “OB-X01” in my UF8.
I’ve never experienced duplicated instances of a track from multiple plugins on a single track in any DAW. I would have immediately sent the units back if I was limited to one plugin per track
I’m on MacOS Sequoia, but have been running this kit since OS14.x.
You’re right.
But thankfully, this only happens with the three channel strips 4K B and 4K E and the 360 link. You can load all other strips multiple times without the track being duplicated.
As long as you only load either the 360 link OR 4K B OR 4K E, everything’s fine.
SSL probably wanted to avoid having to always load the 360 link when you’re already loading a 4K B/E.
Looks like they fixed it in an update? I’ve got native 360 link, CS2, BC2, 4KB, 4KE, SSL Meter, Fusion Stereo, and X-Delay (only testing of course!) an no duplication of track display in the UF8. This last firmware and 360 update has been really solid for me! Reduced system overhead for the daemon significantly, too.
How are you finding the whole 360 link on every channel thing, in terms of memory/CPU/overall usage? I was excited when it came out to access proper track selection and colors but I haven’t been keen to try it on my larger templates with hundreds of tracks, for fear that it might start to bog everything down or create other issues like bloated project files or load times etc. Is it doing ok?
I was worried about the exact same thing, but it’s a non-issue. I was more concerned with the CPU usage of the SSL360Core background app, but they reduced it by about 1/3 in the last update. It’s sitting at 35% (of 1600%) on my M3 Max 12:p/4:e.
For the 360link, native channel strip, and native bus compressor (3 inserts per track) RAM usage bumps for a few seconds when you duplicate tracks, but goes back down. A blank N14 project with one track was using 1.40G, and with 5 it’s using 1.41G. With 40 it’s only 1.78, but the tread count goes up 1 thread per insert.
With hundreds of tracks my concern isn’t the system resources, it’s the usability of a 8 tracks at a time (or 16 if you have 2) but I suppose the “real” console users are already used to that. The “follow the track” feature where you can click on a track a hundred tracks in and have the controller automatically switch to that track requires you assign one of the 3 “DAW Layers” as the Plugin-Mixer, which once you get the hang of it works well.
All in all I’m really happy with mine. Some dude wrote up a $30 (or whatever it is) app called UA Midi Control that integrates with my UAD console app even when it’s NOT RUNNING to allow me full control of my UA console from the UF8 on a different layer. I use the UF8 all day long, and use the UF1 as my master reference, and I have the UC1 as well, which I’m still getting the hang of. My studio is rather dark, and it’s hard to read it; but I just got a couple of amber book lights that actually work really well.
Thanks for sharing and letting me know! I think I’ll give it a test on one of my templates and try it out for awhile. I’m on an M2 Ultra with 128 GB of ram so it should probably be fine. Thanks for mentioning the UA Midi Control as well (unfortunately not $30, or perhaps not anymore, now it is 69€ ~$75 now) but that seems cool, as I am a UA Apollo user as well. Cheers!
