Hi all,
what am I missing here?
I’ve set my secondary bracket appearance to “Brace” in Layout Options.
Now the staff labels and the braces are colliding and I can’t get the staff labels to move away from the brace:
Whatever I do in Engraving Options > Staff Labels is not affecting these staff labels.
What am I missing?
Cheers
Jochen
Hi @jochenneuffer , and welcome back to the Forum.
The collision has probably something to do with the font you use for Staff Labels Paragraph Style. With the default font (Academico) I have no collisions.
Try to change (increase) this Egraving option: Distance between outer or group staff label and systemic barline (default is 3):

Thank you, @Christian_R !
This is odd – it definitely seems like Distance between outer or group staff label and systemic barline has no effect on my group staff labels positions whatsoever:
Switching back to Academico makes no difference:
At least I’m glad to know that I was trying to change the correct parameter after all – even though it’s not working.
I managed to “solve” this issue: For some reason the group staff labels got stuck and didn’t move when I put in values between 0 and 5, 6, 7…
I accidentally typed in 10 spaces once and then the staff label jumped to the left. Ever since then I was able to type in the value I wanted.
There’s an inset option for paragraph styles: make sure that isn’t set for the staff label paragraph styles as well.
Thank you @Lillie_Harris !
I just double-checked and this option was definitely not set.
But I definitely see what you are referring to.
When I set up new projects now (using either the Dorico default or my templates) it seems to be fine.
Could it just have been a corrupted file?
Impossible to say for sure without seeing the file. If you want to share it for further insights, please feel free.
