So, I’ve solved a mute switching and playback sound issue for trumpets with Harmon mute by adding another trumpet instrument to each player, renaming it to “Harmon” and assigning a muted trumpet sound in Play Mode. This works nicely with playback and the automatic “to Harmon” instrument change text. The only problem now is that in the score it shows the staff labels for the currently held instrument, which in this case is “Harmon” but I want it to keep reading “Trumpet”. Is there a way to solve this (optionally with alternatives to the instrument change solution)?
Name your player Trumpet
In Layout Options set Show player name instead of instrument names for this player
In Layout options - Players set this (if the first note is on Harmon)

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought about that solution (thanks for the “show instrument change label at start of flow”, didn’t know that one) but it seems buggy somehow in that it still shows instrument names in subsequent systems if “Abbreviated” is selected. I have to select “Full” there but that causes the problem that it shows full instrument names for all players. Ideally I’d like to keep the abbreviated names but there is no option for abbreviated player names, apparently.
Any other solution or workaround?
Oh, I see. I never used the player settings, I always just renamed players by double-clicking on the player names in the left panel, but that only changes the full names. Thank you very much.
