Staff label restate and horizontal staff connection in cutaway scores

Wonderful cutaway function in Dorico 6, really amazing and easy to use. I’d like to suggest two useful options: sometimes it could be really useful (especially in large orchestral scores on large pages) to

  1. restate staff label and not only clef; I’ve found it in scores like the Seventh Concerto by Goffredo Petrassi, as in photo (Ott.).

  2. have the ability to create (better automatically) an horizontal connection line between bars of the same instrument on a page, as bassoon in this excerpt from Sinfonia by Luciano Berio.

Excellent work, Dorico team! I hope to view in further versions (not too far…) Audio import (audio staves) and a time-warp function, something to manually align bars to audio as it’s possible in StaffPad.

All the best

This is the default setting, isn’t it? (I’m just discovering, so I could be wrong)

The problem is when (in a large score) you have a cutaway of an instrument at the beginning of the page and then another cutaway of the same instrument far away: in a dense score it could be useful to have restated the staff label, as the clef, or just an horizontal line, as in Berio’s score.

Thanks for the feedback. We will think about whether we can make it possible to specify via a property on a manual cutaway whether the staff label should be hidden or shown at that point.
