Staff positions?

I had setup layout->fixed number of bars per system → 4

I have 3 bars (5-7) and 4th bar (8) is empty.
Is this the correct approach selecting Edit->Notations->Staff-Remove Staff?

Reason I’m asking is I am using trial version Dorico SE 5. that option and other are locked until I upgrade from Finale.

Hi @deangelisron, you didn’t say what you want to obtain. What is exactly the problem?

Also I may remind the Forum Guidelines (especially #4):

Do you want to delete that bar entirely, because you only need bars 1-7? If so, see here:

The “Remove Staff” option is for changing the number of staves an instrument has, eg if for a short passage a piano needs 3 staves, instead of the usual two.

Hi All, I did select remove staff which didn’t work. But, forgot to notice that for the trial there are many operations locked.

I’ll be doing the Finale to Dorico Pro 5 special offer. thank you !!

I doubt that is the case. If one had selected the Dorico Pro trial, one’s luck might have been better.

Remove Staff won’t have worked there because there’s only one staff to begin with: an instrument has to have at least one staff!

If you don’t want a bar, you can delete it.

If you don’t want to see empty staves when they’re empty for the whole system, you can hide empty staves (but again, there’ll need to be at least one staff shown, because otherwise there’s simply nothing there)

Yep just downloaded the 60 day trial dorico pro 5 and everything is available for me :+1:
