I just printed a project for the first time in Dorico. The text looks fine. However, the staff lines, notes, dynamics ect. are very small. How do I go about making the music more readable but still keep the vertical spacing between staves in groups and from the bottom staff of a group to the next group? If it matters, this project is for a 17 instrument marching band (I also have the same issue with a 15 instrument marching band). Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks so much!
What size paper are you printing on?
What space (staff, rastral) size are you using?
I’m currently not at my computer, but paper size is A4, but I’ll be printing on a standard piece of printer paper. The rastral size is like 2.6.
15-17 staves on an A4 page will inevitably be small. You can’t magically overcome physical limitations!
So, what should I do? I’m trying to match the marching band scores from Hal Leonard.
Also, here is a picture of the first page of the score. I am creating a project template and I know I won’t be able to read the notes m on the staff.
By the lack of specification I’m guessing US Letter size?
It looks like you’ve got the paper in landscape orientation. If you change your layout to portrait, the staves can be taller.
If you look at a Hal Leonard example and measure the stave size, you will be able to replicate that.
What do you mean?
All of Hal Leonard’s marching band scores are in landscape.
Do you by chance know what size? And if I use a larger size should I reduce the all of the text sizes?

If that’s the style you want, play around with sizes until you can match it exactly.

Yes, fonts that are set to “staff-relative” will need to be adjusted to taste.
And a smaller staff-to-staff gap.
As a conductor of a concert band I hate those landscape scores.
Can anyone please help me find a good rastral size? I’ve played with the rastral section and the vertical layout stuff in layout settings and I’m not getting anywhere. I can only, for whatever reason, get the group staff to group staff vertical spacing correct or the staff to staff vertical spacing correct. However, I can’t get both of them to be correct at the same time. What am I doing wrong?
