Start horizontal line between notes

Hi,
I was trying to insert a horizontal line on (already existing) tied notes, but with the line starting ‘in the middle of notes’.
although i have selected the lines start and end position to rhythmic position, it always snaps to the (tied) noteheads and i failed to get it begin where there are no notehead.

I do have a solution which is to break the tie with U at the position i want to start the line, then re-tie again, which I did below.

Not a problem, but I was just wondering if there was another way to do it with less steps, like do the same thing directly without having to untie the note as i will have to repeat it many times(with different positions and length).

If you select the line without selecting any notes, you can place it wherever you want within the tied chain. Then you can adjust it using the arrow keys: Ctrl+Alt+arrow (or Cmd+Opt+arrow on Mac) moves the whole line; Shift+Alt+arrow moves the right end of the line.
In both cases, it moves according to your rhythmic grid’s resolution (eighth note in this example).

Thank you for the response!
I tried it but it seems like i am missing something, as i’m getting the same result.
(deselected the note, just clicked the line with both start/end to rhythmic position)
I wonder if there’s something to change in the settings or so

I am sorry, I just tried, and apparently it doesn’t work if there is music after the tied chain, so you can forget about this method, unfotunately!
However you can still tweak the line’s place and lenght with the arrows as I was describing, but you could prefer your method (untie/retie).

Maybe someone else will come up with a better idea?

May I ask what that line means and what the context is?

Thanks

thanks though. guess my only option is untie those notes(and yes i do use shift-opt-arrow to adjust the length)
not the end of the world heh

progressive changes like from vib to non vib, ord to sp(st) and vice versa. precising when to start the progression

vib. and non vib are already playing techniques. And they can have continuation lines. And you can change end of the continuation line to be a small arrow… So, no need to mess around with lines.

If you need different words, just customise the playing techniques

That is a great tip, thank you!
Although in my case I still think that might not work, as the line does not always start right after vib/sp but later.
will definitely keep in mind your tip though, could be very helpful in other cases

So just customise a playing technique (give it text of a single space and an arrow continuation)…
