is it possible to add a start and end repeat line on a single staff? Instead of using box notation (which is quite cumbersone) I’d like to add start/end repeat lines on different positions for single instruments.
Couldn’t find a solution. The popover with Option+Enter doesn’t work.
Thanks!
Hi @Hannes_Kerschbaumer, since playback would be impossible in such case, one very comfortable way is to use customised lines (with invisible body and with start end repeats glyphs as start and end caps) attached to barlines and positioned inside the staff. So you are free to put them wherever you need without any problem.
…I did an example some times ago. Lets see if I can find it…
And I found my example. You can find the line in the Lines editor, it is called cgr repeat start and ending, with the two connected annotations (you can save them all as default if you wish to use the line I made ):
Dorico file (the line in this example line is attached to the barline on the left and to rhythmic position on the right) : repeat and end as line.dorico (1.4 MB)
Edit: Please notice that there is a better method for creating the invisible line body. See post #6 below.
For reference, here the original thread where this workaround was discussed (the method was suggested by @jesele I believe):

Once you have inserted the line you can drag the two control points (in both Write or Engrave mode, depending on what you need) to adjust it in case it didn’t land where you want. You can use also the moving shortcuts of course:
I start by selecting the group of notes, then I set the grid option in the line menu and add the line. The line is added as shown in the image. When I select the left handle of the line I can’t move it with Option+Shift+arrow, it only lenghtens or shortens the line.
Is there a way to move the left handle of the line along the grid?
Try to use Option+Command+ left or right arrow (as I show in the gif I added to my previous post). This will move the whole line, and you can then readjust its length:
(here the grid is set to eight notes, you can use smaller values if needed. And finer adjustments are doable in Engrave mode)
No problem at all (also I see that may screen capture software doesn’t show the arrow keys presses…mhhh). Anyway: there are soo many possibilities for moving things
I think you first need to create a local time signature on that staff (which you can hide if necessary). Then you can add the repeats using shift-B and alt/opt-enter.
