Hey guys, curious question. I’ve never had this happen until today and wanted to see if any of you had. I’m on Cubase pro 11, windows 10, UA Apollo interface. I was recording today and as it started recording I got a few blasts of static and garbled sound but the recording came out clean, has this happened to anyone else? How could I have had static that came through my speakers but didn’t get recorded into the audio itself?
There are plenty of ways to get static in your monitors without capturing it on a recording. Usually it’s from a loose physical connection or faulty cable on some line-in or line-out. If the sounds you were recording were the “garbled” sounds you heard, I’d just disconnect and reconnect your line-out cables. I guess there are some ways it could happen if there’s something wrong with your system–but if that’s the case, it will probably happen again.
The recording of the synth I was working with came through and printed cleanly without the static or garbled sound I heard when recording it. If that makes sense.
It hasn’t happened since or before but I would’ve expected the static to have been captured and printed to the recording.
I just don’t understand why the static wouldn’t have been captured.
I had about 40 audio only tracks with no plugins in this session.
It’s usually just the speakers catching up this noise. Headphones not so much. That’s why it’s not recorded on your signal chain. As @XLColdJ said, many possible reasons. If it doesn’t happen on a regular basis consider yourself lucky. Finding the culprit can take up a lot of time and there’s no guarantee you can fix it.
That makes sense. It was just odd and something I’d never experienced.
