I have successfully imported a musicxml file from Finale. It went smoothly, including the playback with Dorico’s instrumentation.
Now I would like to add more instruments–from a chamber orchestra to a full orchestra. Again, not a problem after digging around.
However, with the additional staves, the page has become quite dense. My question, then, is how to shrink all of the staves to fit the pages with adequate spacing between the staves.
I have found (at least) one way to reduce individual staff size, but not all at once, and with neat and clean spacing.
Library>Layout Options >Page Setup >Space Size. Make sure to select all layouts in the right Panel, which you want to change.
Generally when changing something globally, don’t try to force-edit every single element, most of the time there is an global option in Layout Options or Engraving Options to change it
Thank you. Yes, increasing page size and changing the “Space Size” did work.
I was wondering, though, if there is a way to enact something “shrink to fit” or “expand to fit.”
For example, say I had a legal size page with staves equally spaced and filling the page. But then I decide to delete some staves but still want the top to bottom staves to be equally spaced to expand and fill the page.
Is that possible?
Dorico doesn’t have a feature to automatically fit music on a page at present. It’s been requested before and is something we may well implement in future.
