Hello, All
Is there any way to create this sort of empty staff situation in Dorico? I need to make this for a dictation exercise. The example I have here was done in Finale, but since I have to move everything over to Dorico, I’d really like to be able to do this in Dorico.
Shift-M, open (or X) should give you that. You can always hide the X in the properties if it is shown (I don’t remember). Writing meterless is a second nature in Dorico. It’s been designed from ground up to be able to do that effortlessly .
Thanks for the reply, Marc! Actually, my problem isn’t removing the meter signature. This slice is as close as I can get. I can’t get rid of the bar lines.
You mean, the last barline? That’s a setting in Notation options>Barlines>Final barline. Set it to none. I don’t know why you have a barline at the end of your first system though. Deleting it should suffice.
Thanks, again.
Originally, I had to use ⁴⁄₄ time in order to add a measure so I could get two systems. (I couldn’t figure out how to get two systems with X time and no music.) So I just hid the ⁴⁄₄ meter signature and was left with the extra barline. After I posted that last slice I tried changing ⁴⁄₄ time to X time and happily discovered that my two systems remained. I had tried deleting bar lines earlier on and wasn’t successful. That’s something I still need to figure out. I didn’t know about the option to hide the final barline. That’s very helpful. I now have exactly what I need.
Thanks!
I just tried deleting a barline on something else and it worked. I don’t know why I wasn’t able to delete a barline before. Maybe I was in Engrave mode or something?!
