Hi Guys
i have an older yamaha mixer thet worked just great in windows 10. its the 01v96 i use it for the ADAT and extra i/o plus Some DAW controls like faders etc.
now i use windows 11 the driver is no longer working even after i killed the older driver and used the latest one (although it was the same) i also installed the latest yamaha studio manager (again the version was the same as i used in windows 10.
nothing works.
the adat works from the desk to my Motu but the usb is not seen either in studio manager /windows or cubase.
appart from what i did above i have also done the following
1 deleted reg files before new install
2 new cable
3-different usb2 port
4- newst windows 11 bild and update.
5 checked Bios
checked usb hub power options and turned off power management
……
can anyone help with this ?
i need to use the yamaha studio manager to load in my setups and sessions for the desk (all of which are gone in the desk as i also deleted all patches just in case that was the problem..
omho this is a windows problem although i remember having all sorts of problems when i installed it on win 10… but at least it worked then
before i forget in the controll pannel in windows the device manager sees the usb driver but it has that yellow triangle and says the driver is not installed…it has been installed because i can open it from the start menu
Is this the same physical PC you were using with Windows 10, or is it a new PC? If a new PC, sometimes older USB2 devices have a hard time with USB3 ports in some PCs, and need a USB2 hub in-between. That’s very rare these days, but I don’t know how old the PC is and how things are connected. You said “USB2 port”. Those are also somewhat rare on modern PCs, so wanted to double check.
What do you mean by “deleted the reg files before new install”?
Given you have the yellow warning symbol on the device in device manager, if you right-click it and select “properties” does it tell you what is wrong?
Hi Pete
thanks for the reply
yes it is a new pc , that is the same case but new mobo/cpu/ram etc
in the dev manager its a code 28
and yes its the same driver
i have downloaded it three times now and tried to install , but windows tells me the driver is installed allready and can not install , but in the dev manager it says the driver is not installed ???
i cleaned out the reg for the yamaha drivers and software so when i re installed it would be fresh
i eaven retored my pc back to an earlier date but no change
oh and my pc has only two usb 2 ports the rest are the newer ones .
2.5 and 3 blue ones red ones etc..
my last setup i had it in a usb 3 port (blue- it worked fine )
before i forget i deleted it again and now its gone in the device manager
however the studio manager cant find the dece but gives me the usb 1-8 ports in and out…
i downloaded another file / driver and in the control pannel i have a thing called “yamaha usb driver (WDM)
but thats it i cant seem to progress from here
er scrub that now they have gone as well no more usb ports from yamaha .. just that wdm thing in my controll pannel…
errrrrrrrrgh
i feel confused as hell now
okay its because i unplugged the mixer….
so this means windows now sees the mixer .. but the yamaha software does not ??
if i had hair i would pull it out
jeeeeeeeez
From your screen shots, it appears like the MIDI ports are present. I’m not familiar with that app you’re using (is that the Yamaha Studio Manager?), so I’m not sure what should show up in Device Editor and Workspace.
I wonder if that Yamaha app is dynamically creating MIDI ports in some way. Still, the ports appear in your other app so it seems like MIDI is working fine. But let’s see if you are somehow running into a bug in the recent release.
Can you go to About Windows MIDI Services - Windows MIDI Services and run the downloadable app from the top that tells you if you are running the new Windows MIDI Services stack? You can just paste the screenshot in here if you want. (alt-prtscn will screenshot a whole window).
Hi Pete
firs of all i would like to thank you for staying with me on this,
it is above and beyond any level of help i expected and for this i am extremly greatfull
secondly yes it is the app from yamaha
cubase can move faders on the desk and visa versa, which confirms the driver is now working
i have deleted/uninstalled and reg cleaned anything from yamaha and re installed to make sure any older instance is not corrupting the app, this is not the case
my next steps will be
reset the mixer(hardware) to factory settings.
and look into that link with midi stacks you sent me
will send results later today
Thanks again sir
T
no change with the factory reset on the desk
now i dont know what else to do
getting in touch with yamaha apears to be harder than expected, and i wonder if they could even be bothered with a legacy device anyway..
it seems strange that no yamaha support reads the posts on this forum.
i have one thing left to do and that is use an older version and see if that works ..
while i think about it i wonder if i could use the old compatability trick in windows ..? is it still there ? the one where you click in the properties and found the compatibility switch
