Steinberg Activation Manager "Sign In" not working

@SKnapp,
As prompted - I have just bought the upgrade from 13 Pro to 14 Pro. Despite putting in the Activation code in Steinberg Download Assistant (twice - AND re-installing 14), I get prompted to buy the upgrade every time I launch Cubase! Also, SAM still thinks I have the trial version of 14 Pro . If this is not fixed by the time it expires in 5 days - I will have problems…
Window 11. Log file attached.
I would have thought that SAM would be the place to enter the Activation code rathe than Download Assistant. I would also like to delete the 13 Pro trial which expired many months ago - and presumable the 14 Pro trial soon.

Many Thanks

Hi @electrogenetics , @Roman_Benker and everyone who has problems logging into the Activation Manager on macOS 10.15 (Catalina),

to sort out some potential misunderstandings first I describe the different cases that you can run into:
A) You enter https://pathfinder.mb.steinberg.net/ and see the following:

Click on “Show Details” and then click on “visit this website”. You will need to enter your credentials here.

→ If you are lucky, you can now log into the Activation Manager. If not proceed with B).

B) If you enter the address in Safari and you either see

or you see

and you are not able to log into the Activation Manager, you can try the following workaround which also helped @Nilved :

  1. Unpack the following file: mb-steinberg-net.pem.zip
  2. Double click the unpacked file mb-steinberg-net.pem (alternatively open Keychain Access and drag & drop the file onto Keychain Access)
  3. Open the application “Keychain Access”
  4. You should now find an entry with the name “*.mb.steinberg.net”
  5. Double click the entry (alternatively right click and click “Get Info” in the context menu)
  6. In the Window you find an entry “Trust”. Unfold this entry
  7. Change the value of the combo box “When using this certificate:” to “Always Trust”
  8. Close the Window. You will need to enter your credentials to accept the changes.

→ Now you should be able to log into the Activation Manager.

I hope this helps you and I’m sorry for the inconvenience! Happy New Year!

Fixed it for me thx

Thank you, the workaround worked. But when I try again in SAM, this message appears even though I have activated the licences. Do I have to reactivate them?

You need to install the latest release of the BasicFX suite, because your installed version still requires the old eLicenser.

and which one is it?

What interface do you use?

all right, the UR22C

So that is what you need to download

I’ve installed the tools, but it doesn’t work.

It shows again this message.

would I have to uninstall something first?

Did you read the page I have linked above? It explains what you need to do.

Thanks Juergen, I followed now these instructions. now I’m not sure if I’ve downloaded the right Cubase version. Can you tell from this information?

I have downloaded Cubase Pro 12

When did you buy Cubase and what release (Pro, Artist, Elements)?

I think I’ve bought the Steinberg UR22C before about two years, inclouding the Cubase Download Voucher. Here are some documents

Please REMOVE these pictures immediately from your post, because they show your personal license code.

This is a public forum, so it is very dangerous to post personal data like this.

For your Cubase release enter the license code in the Download Assistent and that will enable the Cubase SE edition for you. Ic you haven’t done this before it should probably enable Cubase 14 for you.

I have an activation code for Basic FX Suite. I have already downloaded it in the download wizard

but I don’t see any Cubase SE Edition. In my Steinberg Account I can see theses Products

What do you think, is it possible this way or do you need a different solution?

Hi! Just wanted to add to this as I had similar issues except my license wasn’t updating and I needed to sign out of Activation Manager and sign back in for it to refresh…however, I was stuck not being able to sign out. Here are some additional steps if anyone else has a similar issue:

  1. Open Keychain Access - make sure “login” and “All Items” is selected on the left hand columns

  2. Find the “Steinberg Activation Manager” entry, right click, click “Delete…”

  3. Restart

  4. Follow the steps @SKnapp laid out and should be good to go
