I get the same error message as frkfir when starting the SDA application, it doesn’t load into the application itself or the gui at least. I am using a windows 10 machine if that helps, I’ll try and go through authorization options to see if that solves anything.
Have you tried running it as Admin?
I’ve tried running it as an administator and with my firewalls switched off but no luck so far.
Welcome to the forum, @g.i.george333. Have you tried manually uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of Steinberg Download Assistant from our web site?
“Steinberg Download Assistant was unable to connect to download manager. I get the warning “If this error persists, reinstall Steinberg Download Assistant or check if it is blocked by security settings, firewall or antivirus software”. I do not have any antivirus software and I have deleted and reinstalled it many times but it does not connect.
Did you also downloaded the latest version (from the link that Daniel gave in the previous post) and re-installed it?
Or from here:
HI, I’ve the same error:
When I try to open Steinberg Download Assistant I get the same error: “Steinberg Download Assistant was unable to connect to download manager. If this error persists, reinstall Steinberg Download Assistant or check if it is blocked by security settings, firewall or antivirus software.” I’ve tried everything I could find online about this including removing and re-installing. I’m using Windows 10 Pro. If I open Task Manager I can see it is running but I can’t access the program.
I’ve windows 10
SDA version 1.35.0
Windows defender not running (only this antivirus)
I’ve reinstalled SDA 3 times and It doesn`t run.
I don’t have any firewall (I think… How could I check it?)
Thanks
Manuel
If you End Task in the Task Manager and then try to open it again?
And welcome to the forum, @manuelmorenomustiele . I hope your next visit will be under more auspicious circumstances.
Thanks derek,
I’ve ended the task SDA but It has the same error…
Sorry to hear you’re having problems with SDA, Manuel. Could I ask you to please zip up the application logs being produced by SDA on your system, and attach them here? You should find them here:
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Steinberg Download Assistant\logs
In the meantime, almost every Steinberg product can be downloaded directly from our web site in the event SDA can’t be run on your system. If you can’t find the product you’re trying to install on our support pages, please let me know what it is, and I’ll do my best to locate it for you.
Hi I’m having the same issue and I’m pulling my hairs here. I tried downloading the software on its on but I have the access code and can’t find the activation code anywhere for Cubase LE
SDA Version 1.35.0
I have the error when I start the program
Logs SDA_Installation_2024-05-08_17-04-56.zip (1.8 KB)
Hello!
I’ve just had the same problem,
Steinberg Download Assistant was unable to connect to the download manager.
I analyzed the logs under C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Steinberg Download Assistant\logs and saw that there were errors related to ARIA2 download manager:
2024-05-08 18:11:59.763 INFO 35216 --- [JavaFX-Launcher] n.s.e.d.d.a.internal.Aria2Configuration : Aria2 Installation found. Creating Aria2Process.
...
2024-05-08 18:12:02.717 ERROR 35216 --- [JavaFX Application Thread] n.s.e.d.d.aria2.internal.Aria2Service : An exception occurred while accessing aria2JService
...
Caused by: org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException: Unauthorized
I figured that SDA was trying to access my already running aria2 daemon that I use for everyday downloading, and it is preconfigured with my own username and password. So, of course, SDA cannot access that instance. Stopping my own, already running aria2 daemon solved my problem.
试试重启你的路由器及猫。
This is ridiculous. This error seems to go back for years. I am switching over from Finale. Have to say this is not a good first impression of this company. I had this same error installing to my desktop computer. If started working, no idea why. Same issue now on my laptop. Still no luck. I think I am going to refund and just stick it out with Finale. This is crazy for a software company.
Welcome to the forum, @rubenmusic. I’m sorry you’re having problems with Steinberg Download Assistant. Do you have a proxy server or VPN active that might be causing a connectivity issue? Did you install Steinberg Download Assistant today as part of the installation process, or did you already have SDA installed? If you had an old version of SDA installed, I’d recommend manually uninstalling it and then installing the latest version:
Windows: https://www.steinberg.net/sda-win
Mac: https://www.steinberg.net/sda-mac
Alternatively, you can download everything you need from this page:
Don’t despair – we will get you up and running. You’ve come to the right place for help.
This is a fresh install, first time user. I don’t have a proxy or vpn. Are we in 1998, why does installing this program require all these separate actions? Installer, authentication app, and on and on.
Dorico is part of a broader set of Steinberg products and there are lots of shared pieces that are used by different products that we offer, so a tool like SDA is helpful because it can ensure that things are installed or updated as needed. In an ideal world, the three separate tools we currently have that handle different but related tasks – SDA for download and installation, Steinberg Library Manager for managing sound content, and Steinberg Activation Manager, for managing licensing/activation – would be combined into a single application, and sooner or later we will get to that point. In the meantime, we’ve got a somewhat imperfect system, but it’s workable.
I would recommend that for now you skip over using SDA, and download the bits and pieces listed on the download page I linked above. You will need to run them individually, rather than having SDA do it for you, but it should be possible to get everything installed reasonably quickly.
I got it working. Had to download everything individually and install separately. God help me if I need to update any programs. Sorry to be so negative, again not the best first impression of software. I purchased the “Pro” version, so far its not a very professional experience. Hopefully the actual software is.
I’m sorry that you’ve not had a good initial experience, but I’m pleased to hear that you’ve now got the software installed. We’re here to help as and when you need further assistance.
I have the same questions: Are we in 1998, and how did a problem like this remain unresolved for at least three years?
