I am trying to install Cubase Elements 14 - free trial on my Macbook Pro (M3 Pro, Sequoia 15.1.1). It downloaded the Steinberg Download Assistant (Steinberg_Download_Assistant_1.36.4_Installer_mac.dmg).
When I clicked on the file, it immediately crashed. It does this consistently.
Anyone had this problem?

I would still like to solve the problem of why the Steinberg Download Assistant crashes immediately on my Macbook Pro (Sequioa 15.1.1).
In the meantime, I am trying to bypass SDA as per documentation on the Steinberg site, and I can launch Cubase Elements 14. However, an error message is displayed in the top left corner on startup. With contents below:
403 Forbidden
- Code: AccessDenied
- Message: Access Denied
- RequestId: T51558MQWG2NSBPK
- HostId: B8x1cN/7+KMR5qnQUM5hDMf2VTpv7Zwne5b3DBfopyfYRzV32oom7tgZAvLf/mCOZNgQzFuxV3E=
An Error Occurred While Attempting to Retrieve a Custom Error Document

- Message: Access Denied
I do have Avast on my computer. Could this be responsible for the error?
If not, what else is possible?
The SDA is rubbish. There are more threads about the SDA than any other topic.
Go direct.
There’s just the one installer for all versions. Unless you want them, don’t download the extras! They’re not essential.
(Scroll down to the downloads.)
I have managed to install Cubase Elements 14 without SDA. My current question is about the “403 Forbidden” error message that appears in the top left as I open up Cubase. Is this because I have Avast installed? Or some other reason.
I did solve this problem by uninstalling Avast from my MacBook Pro. I was then able to install SDA and continue. However, I do still get a “403 Forbidden” error under “News” in Cubase Elements 14 (Trial). I suppressed this under Settings/General “Use News Hub”, but this stops me from seeing the Steinberg news feed. I am not impressed.
