How do I fix this?
That looks fun! What language are you running your operating system in?
I’d suggest it’s a font cache issue. Restarting the computer should fix it: if not, there are ways to empty the font cache (which all require a restart in any case…!)
I am running English
Unfortunately this does not fix
Make sure you don’t read any of it aloud. Might turn into a Cthulhu incident and awaken an Elder God.
You wouldn’t want to be that guy now, would you?
Black Speech?
It looks a bit like what you might get if you asked an AI image generator to create a picture of the Steinberg Download Assistant
In that case, I’d suggest running this Terminal command, which clears the font cache:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
… and then restart.
Or you can restart into Safe Boot mode, by holding SHIFT as the computer restarts, which clears the cache; then you can restart normally. (I told you it involved some restarts…!)
This assumes the user has an Intel-based Mac.
Such procedure will not work on an Apple Silicon Mac.
For that, the Mac will need to be shut down then, after a short interval allowing the Mac to fully turn off, turn it back on keeping the power button pressed until it says “Loading Options” under the Apple logo. At that point the power button can be released.
More info here: Avviare il Mac in modalitĂ sicura - Supporto Apple (IT) (it opens in Italian for me regardless of how I set it up, I hope it opens in English for you).
Scrolling down to the very bottom gives you the opportunity to change country/language.
Screenshot from mobile phone:
That’s what I’ve done, set it to English United States and it reloaded in Italian … who knows why?
Just a guess; if you are strictly blocking any cookies, then the system might fall back to your operating system language.
No idea.
If I type support.apple.com then I get immediately brought to the English page and I can look for this: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support.
Mystery of computers: everything has an explanation, until it doesn’t!
