Steinberg Download Assistant stuck

Trying to update Dorico to v. 6.2, but Steinberg Download Assistant gets stuck updating Steinberg MediaBay (whatever that is). I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling SDA, but no luck. 2020 Intel iMac, Sequoia 15.7.4. Suggestions please?

Try downloading the MediaBay directly from the Steinberg Website and install it seperately. After that restart the SDA. The SDA should then start because MediaBay is already uptodate

Thanks! I had trouble installing MediaBay because it thought another installation was in progress (which it wasn’t), and it wouldn’t even let me quit or restart. I eventually managed to kill the installer with Activity Monitor and then restart, and then it was OK. I must have wasted at least an hour on this.

Same problem again, only worse this time.

I ran the Steinberg Download Assistant. As before, it stalled while updating MediaBay. I force quit it and, as advised by JuergenP (thank you), downloaded MediaBay directly. As before, the installer refused to run, saying that another installation was in progress. Force quitting it was even harder than last time, as it kept coming back to life, but eventually I managed to restart.

I then tried again with the MediaBay installer. Last time this worked, but this time the installer kept stalling at “Running package scripts”.

I tried deleting the Steinberg MediaBay Server folder from ~/Library/Preferences, and the MediaBay folder from /Library/Application Support/Steinberg, and emptying the Trash. But the MediaBay installer still stalls at “Running package scripts”.

Any suggestions please? Should I uninstall Dorico (and my trial version of Cubase)?

(2020 Intel iMac, Sequoia 15.7.4)

EDIT: Uninstalling Cubase seems to have done the trick: the SDA now works, so I haven’t needed to try the MediaBay installer again. But it really shouldn’t be this hard.
