Steinberg Hub - Learn tab notification

Sometimes there’s a red notification ‘1’ on the Learn tab in the Steinberg Hub. But how can you tell which one is the new one? In my hub it’s not always the one at the top. I know this since I had already watched that video recently. Furthermore it’s impossible to remember every subject ever posted there. If the new ones and unread ones would be in bold text it would make things much easier.

I agree it would be nice to be able to highlight the updated items. When I first implemented this, I had a go at doing it, but it was complicated and I ran out of time. It’s something I may yet return to in future. Don’t forget that the new item might be a video, or it might be a new post on the Dorico blog.

Yeah, well, that’s the thing I’m talking about. Might be this or that. If one can’t tell what’s new there’s not much point in going there and that makes the notifications a bit annoying. Is there a way to turn them off maybe?

There is not, no. Simply pop onto the Learn tab to clear the notification.

Can we revisit this? It is a bit annoying to see there are, for example, 2 new items in Learn in the Steinberg Hub but there’s no way to know what is new or where to find it. For the life of me, I see nothing different under the Learn tab. Can we either fix this to highlight or state what’s new or just stop using that little red badge altogether? Many of us have been engrained with the concept of viewing what these red dots are indicating through social media and, for example, Apple applications. I’m sure there’s similar things for Windows. users.

To be honest, it is more than annoying to those of us with OCD like myself. Much appreciated.

That is wasted clicking (aka wasted effort and wasted time) - just saying…. It’s little things like this that can drive potential users away from a product.

Another vote for this. If the items in the content panels, both main and Blog, could be sorted by last updated date rather than date of creation, that would simplify things greatly.

One more vote for this. I supposedly had four new items to read, but Dorico wasn’t about to let me know where on Earth they were. I only found out about the possibility that they might be blog posts or videos or what have you by coming over here to the Forum. If you’re not going to fix this, then for the sake of everyone with any degree of OCD at all out there, PLEASE turn it off!!!
