How about the reverb IRs? Are they still accessible from Dorico?
Reverence I am guessing is from cubase,
Library manager dies not provide me a cubase tab anymore even though I still have cubase 13 installed. As I said this may be related to removing the cubase 14 demo which must have removed some cubase 14 things related to library manager
Reverence is bundled with Dorico.
I believe itās bundled with both ![]()
So anyway I reinstalled Cubase13 in hopes of updating library managerā¦and it did, now I see tabs for cubase, retrologue and pad shop in library manager.
The interesting thing is that when I did this, the installer for cubase actually installed all the cubase content over on my external driveā¦which brings me to a point about best practice:
If your intent is to have content on external drive, what I think makes sense is to first install Dorico (or cubase), but not the content. Then run library. manager and set the option for where your content should be, to the external drive. Then go ahead and run all the the content installers from download assistantā¦and (knock on wood), it will put everything on the external drive with sym links on the internal drive.
Though I gather that the library manager could do this in a secondary step also, it certainly worked for me yesterday, with the following exceptions:
I manually had to move the Reverence IRās and sym link them. I also manually moved and sym linked the hammond draw bar VSTsound file, which library manager does not seem to know about and is ignoring it (bug). They are about 700MB combined.
At this point all my steinberg content is on external and seems to work..except there are a few things like metronome beep sounds and stuff like that which is still on the internal and not big enough to care.
Would somebody please explain in plain language where I can find this mythical āMOVEā button in the Dorico Library Manager? This topic seriously needs to be put into a well-written article or video tutorial, as it is a very important discussion that has long-since disappeared down a deep rabbit hole. Most of the above is largely impenetrable to me, and I have used computers for music production since 1983. Another issue I cannot resolve is having to wait while Dorico rescans my plugins fully, every time I open Dorico, which Steinberg refused to believe.
Thank you Juergen. I had assumed the advice above had related to the Dorico Library Manager.
I still have the problem to deal with, as only the libraries that work in Dorico, show up as available in the correct Library Manager. I will try putting the libraries that I canāt access back in the Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Content/VST and see if that will make them available to move. Thanks again for the illumination.
Steinberg Library Manager will only handle Steinberg products. Other libraries (eg those from Spitfire Audio) have their own managers.
If you upload your Diagnostics (Help>Create Diagnostics report), Iām sure someone will be able to tell you what is happening. I donāt know the details, but there have been changes in recent updates about how Dorico scans plugins.
Actually there are VST plug-ins that indeed must be rescanned on every start up, but they are only a minority.
But you could simply prove your point by doing following:
- 1.) start up Dorico and do from the menu Help > Create Diagnostic Report
- 2.) Rename the outcoming zip file
- 3.) Shutdown Dorico and start at 1.) again
Do this so that you have 2 diagnostic reports, please send both to me under u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de
Thanks
