Steinberg minimum system requirements

Steinberg is advising minimum system requirements for it’s software.
I’m wondering, is there also a maximum?

there are things like core-handling that need to be improved but that doesn’t mean that throwing the most powerful system at Cubase would keep it from working. Or are you referring to something else?

I’m having trouble with Download assistant, it just quits.
Cubase and Nuendo 15 just quit.
This happens when I have my bios and system set to max performance.

It looks like Steinberg doesn’t like that.
Windows and other software behaves normal.

Yes, this is not a good idea according to Pete from Microsoft:

The only BIOS change I cautioned against was disabling c-states, and that’s because Intel also recommends not doing it due to shortening the lifetime of the processor.

My specs:
Windows 11 Pro 25H2.
Processor: Intel core ultra 9 285k.
Motherboard: Asus Prime Z890-P wifi.
Memory: 4 x 24 gb DDR5 running at 6000MT/s.
Drives:
C:\Windows Crucial T705 1TB,
D:\Asus Hyper Card M.2 x16 gen 5 card (8x4x4) with
3 x 4 TB Crucial T705 pcie 5.0x4 in Raid0 configuration,
containing all my sound libraries.
E:\Asus AS1000, 1TB, projects
Graphics: Radeon rx 7600xt 16gb
Steinberg: Nuendo 15, Cubase 15 pro, Dorico 6, Halion 7, Iconica Opus.
Audio: Presonus Quantum HD8

In the bios I can choose Intel default settings or Asus advanced OC profile.
I select Asus setiings, see picture 1.

Made a clean Windows 11 pro install, checked memory and drives, all oke.
Installed Asus drivers with the Asus hub.
Everything works normal!!!

Downloaded Steinberg download assistant and run the program.
So far so good. Then I start downloading Cubase 15 pro and poof everything gone.
Windows shuts down and restarts. This happens every time, it even corrupts Windows.
When I’m lucky I get after several times Cubase installed, but starting Cubase gives the
same result. Other download programs work perfect, EastWest, NI, SpitfireAudio.
Any clue?

This is definitely some driver that restarts Windows. Cubase itself can not do this.

There are no other drivers then Windows and Asus.
System shuts down, windows needs to repair, windows wont start again.
I think it has, no other program can cause this.

Set my bios to Intel default mode, reinstalled windows, and the download Assistant is downloading now with no problems.
So this must be a Steinberg issue!!! So frustrating.

What exactly happens, is it showing a Blue Screen, or is it just rebooting?

If it is a Blue Screen you will find crash dump files in C:\Windows\Minidump that will have information about the cause.

No, Cubase can not reboot a system and destroy it. This must be some driver that Cubase is supposed to load, because only the driver has deep enough permissions in the system.

That’s actually not how it works

Your screen shot is super tiny so I couldn’t read it. But in any case, the Asus profile is basic overclocking. It’s primarily for gamers and requires your memory and other components can handle the overclock. The Intel profile is for stability. Use the Intel profile.

Don’t overclock your DAW PC unless you have the hardware and knowledge to handle it.

I always tune my pcs (for audio) with it but the core parking, it depends on your cpu.
Under optimize the common (suggested) settings to tune at the best for audio, usually I do that manually but this tool really saves all that time.
