Steinberg decided to ditch X, when big bad Elon bought the company. I don’t know how the Steinberg community spends its time online when not making music, but I spend most of my time on X.
The competition is there loud and clear, Ableton, Bitwig, Spectrasonics and other plugin developers. Thing I like I repost etc.
From a quick Google search, it looks like Steinberg is still on X, though not very active based on the latest post:
For me personally, it is mostly Facebook, and I often see news of Steinberg software updates first from their posts there. I also participate in a Cubase Pro group, but I mostly use FB for keeping in touch with friends, family, and the local music community, in addition to following various music-related companies and a few more news-oriented sources.
While I also am on and use Instagram, my IG use is way more limited as its more video/image/phone-centric nature isn’t my thing.
I was on Twitter for a number of years, but I never really used it other than for posting announcements (e.g. gigs, music releases, etc.). I was using a facility that would let me use my Twitter posts on my website like a news feed. However, after Musk took over, they broke that facility because you were forced to be logged in to access posts, and, at least at the time (no clue if it’s changed since it became X), that wasn’t possible through the facility I was using. Then when Twitter got more toxic I just ended up deleting my account since I never really used it anyway.
There’s no way I’d go near X now under Musk’s ownership - especially with his attitude to the UK and support for the deeply unpleasant people trying to undermine it. I like forums (fora?), but I’m old.
I wouldn’t ever go near X (particularly as owned by Musk) and don’t waste my time on social media. Too many other worthwhile things to spend my time on.
