For those who have not described to Steinberg’s newsletter: The “Cyber Deals” are on as of today until the 8th of December 2025.
That’s an awesome price for SpectraLayers 12!
I take it there won’t be an update to Groove Agent 6 out before the 8th.. ![]()
Hmm, I remember that an English gentleman once wrote that he didn’t want to buy any more new stuff. It was right here in the forum. If only I could remember his name…
All these sales around Black Friday … so tempting, “Jumping Jack Flash, it’s a GAS GAS GAS” ![]()
The days when I would pay full price are long gone!
This expansion isn’t particularly expensive (£65) but it doesn’t add that much to the other Simon Phillips kits, or the built-in Rock and Studio kits.
For £33, I might pull the trigger…
That’s life.
Some interesting offers, though. This time, there are some updates on sale (e.g. Halion) which haven’t been included last time. But yeah, sales do always have the element of surprise.
Halion 50% off is a fantastic deal
I am considering Wavelab, so I’m for a careful comparison of the Pro and Elements manuals. The Pro version is probably overkill and rather costly, even with the 50% rebate. OTOH, and looking at the comparison chart, there are a lot of features which appear as ‘limited’ in the Elements one, so… ![]()
Where is the Wavelab Artist version ? ![]()
Good question, an “Artist” version of Wavelab would be nice. The scope of limitations in the Element version is indeed massive, e.g. 2 effects per clip. Maybe it’s meant as some sort of demo version? Dunno…
The past couple of years I’ve been pretty solid re: don’t buy anything new and this year I don’t see being any different. I barely get online to look at this stuff, anymore.
I’ll probably buy a new car soon, though.
Elements is good for people who just need to record podcasts or want an audio editor, but there are other options that offer full versions at really good prices and will get you mostly to where WaveLab Pro is at a steep discount… It’s in a weird market position, IMO.
It’s basically for the types of people who would buy Sound Forge Audio Studio, Acoustica Elements, etc.
A first comparison : the Elements manual takes 433 pages, the Pro one, 917. There must be some differences… ![]()
Haven’t had the time to go further, yet. Stay tuned ! ![]()
That’s strange since the comparison chart mainly points at a reduced number of instances available within a function.
Anyways, I also noticed that 50€ for the Elements version will be deducted from the upgrade price in case you want to switch to the full version later on.
@Trensharo yeah, Elements might indeed be adressed to podcasters, you are right. I haven’t come across a comparable substitute for Wavelab Pro, though.
Interesting, as I haven’t see that, but it would then be 500-50 = 450 €. Still too expensive, in my view, as I doubt that the rebate price will still be applicable whenever I would decide to take the jump in some unknown future.
I have started to look more closely at the whole thing, manuals included, but what I would really need to make my mind is a trial version of Elements. AFAICS, there is only a Pro one… ![]()
Yes, seems like the only trial version available is the full version. Depending on what you have in mind, Elements has some limitations that are too drastic for certain purposes IMO. Difficult…
I went for the Halion update - it was too good an offer to resist.
I’m probably going to purchase the Elements version and see how things will go with it, even with its limitations, the full version being definitely out of my reach, presently, even at 250€ : after all, I don’t take a lot of risks at 50€.
Beside this, as I have an Absolute 6 licence, I’m not concerned by the full Halion or Groove Agent versions : I already have both of them installed.
Hi @cubic13 ,
it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on Wavelab Elements once you have familiarized yourself with this version. Maybe share some insights one day?
Hi, @Reco29
I would if I could, but I stupidly missed the deadline. So, purchase postponed… ![]()
I have Elements 9, it’s so limited it’s a waste of time and money, assuming you have Cubase.
I messed with it for a few weeks, and then just went back to using Cubase’s audio editors.
Kind of what I thought…
