why is the stem from b once up and once down? In my opinion the stem should be down. There’s no force for stems.

Locally, you can hit F to flip a stem. Globally, what do you have set here?
That’s it: same settings like shown in the picture. Then I switched to “Use default direction” and the stem goes down…

Well yeah, If you switch it to “Use default” then ALL middle-line notes will be switched down, even if the context suggests that an upstem would look better.
I recently came across the same issue, where Pro2.2 put two Bs In the same bar one stem up, one stem down. “Determined by context” as the preference. Fixed it by manually changing one of the stems, that function is also in the Edit menu.
