Sorry for revisiting something that may have already been covered, but I can’t seem to find the right answer. In the example attached, the tied pitches won’t allow for the stems to be in the same direction, in this case, up (the half-note stubbornly will not move). If I remove the tie, the stem flips, and the voices look right; add the tie back in, and the stem flips back to the wrong direction. I am certainly doing something wrong, so any help would be much appreciated!

I suspect that some of these stems must have forced directions. Try selecting those bars and choosing Edit > Stem > Remove Forced Direction.

Ok, got what I did wrong - when, originally, I added the second voice, I did not take into account the little stem direction icon. Making sure that it was going in the right direction allowed me to re-enter the passage, and everything is fine.
