1st I did 8th notes with step entry and lengths were that.
but then I did 8th triplets and the length didn’t correlate and overlaps. Is there another setting?
Yes. In the MIDI editor there are separate boxes at the top for Quantize and Quantize Length (if you don’t see them check the settings for that area to see if they’re hidden). Make sure the Quantize Length is set as desired - there’s also an option to link the Quantize Length setting to the Quantize value, which can be handy.
