Step input stopped working

Mayby I accidentally hit something, - suddenly step input doesn’t work.
The step input orange button is lit, i have the blue line and I see midi activity on the keyboard.
But nothing happens on the grid or in the score editor :frowning:
Normal inputting with the mouse or recording still works.
Have rebooted and still no luck.
Any ideas ?

Update: A quick trip into safe mode fixed it!

Opening Cubase today, step input stopped working!

I would hate to delete all my preferences etc.. :woozy_face:

UPDATE: Now it also doesn’t work in safe mode either!
UPDATE: - Even a reinstall doesn’t help :frowning:

Safe mode temporarily exchanges only one of the many preference files. If you want to try clean factory settings, do this:

Afterwards it is rather tedious to find out exactly which file causes an issue, of course.

Ok.. - It’s only the project I’ve been working on for a long time, that has this behavior. So it must be a setting somewhere, I accidentally turned on or off.
But which ? :thinking:

I tested your “doesn’t work” project. Initially something with step input is messed up.
Switching the step input to change pitch of already existing notes…

… cured the problem somehow. It takes me some click-a-dee-click and press-a-dee-press, though.
Would be nice if @Martin.Jirsak could forward the project to Steinberg.

This does nothing here. Even the built in keyboard doesn’t work.

Hi,

I can confirm, I cannot Step Input in this project. Even if I add a new MIDI Track, change the MIDI Input Port, MIDI Input Channel, Output…

Reported to Steinberg. Thank you.
