Stick Clicks or Stick on Stick

Hi,

I am using Dorico 3.5 and am writing a piece for solo snare. A stick hitting the other stick in the air would often be notated as in the attached score with a V on the stem. Is there anyway of doing this in 3.5 or later versions without creating new noteheads?

Provided you don’t need five tremolo slashes, you could redefine the Combining tremolo 5 symbol in Engrave > Music Symbols to use e.g. the upbow symbol, like this:

The attached project was created in Dorico 5, but should open fine in your Dorico 3.5.
