I had the same idea myself - well, certainly trying to get hold of the .srf file - but I don’t know how to install version 14.0.20. If I uninstall version 14.0.30, won’t Download Manager just offer me the same latest version again?
I’ve only ever upgraded Cubase. If I uninstall and re-install (whichever version), will there be knock-on problem for my past Cubase projects?
Don’t use download manager. No there won’t be any knock on effect.
Bit of a pain but you could uninstall 30, install 20…copy the srf to your desktop, then upgrade back to 30 and if necessary put the saved srf back in (but the uninstall/reinstall will probably fix it anyway as it has for others)
Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions. We’re now all sorted. I uninstalled in Windows then just installed again in Download Assistant. It was as simple as that.
The AudioPlugs.srf file downloaded this time. Interestingly, its date is 19/02/25, not today’s, suggesting it’s the same .srf file that the previous version (or two) was using. I guess that makes sense.
Thanks for making AudioPlugs.srf available to download. In the end, I scrubbed the first installation and started again and all was fine. This time I got the AudioPlugs.srf file!
I thought Download Assistant automatically did a parity check between the file package at Steinberg’s end and the files that we’ve downloaded. In other words, it verifies the integrity of the download. I therefore don’t understand how it could have verified my first download if the AudioPlugs.srf file was missing in my PC. Strange.
As far as I can tell (and seems to be the general consensus), the Download Assistant doesn’t really keep track of or care what’s already on the system. Whenever something gets installed it gets written to one of the preference files in there, and that’s about all it keeps track of. It doesn’t check anything as far as your actual hard drive contents goes. If you wipe out the apps preferences, it will throw out its record of what you installed. You can have the full suite on your computer, trash the pref files for the SDA, and the next time you open the SDA, it will think you need to install everything all over again.
Hi, Alan. I stopped using CB 14 Pro once I saw the plug-ins looking so weird; but, as I recall, I must have started to do some work with it - maybe just playing back, editing, etc. a bit - before I reached for a plug-in and saw the problem.
As I say, deleting and re-downloading did the trick.
