I’ve got a project that’s entirely in swing 8ths, but I want one bar of one player to not be swung. I don’t know how else to do this other than by using 2:2 tuplets, which does not create the straight playback I’m looking for.

I would use a tempo change shift-t straight, then change it back in the following bar.
I would do that, except I want other players to still be swinging in the same bar
Two parts to my answer: (1) notational (for your human performers) and (2) Dorico-related.
- In terms of notating it, I would not use the duplet, just eighths and quarters. Some will say that just the presence of the staccato marks is enough, but I always err on the safe side:
- In cases like yours, where others should keep playing swung eighths, I’d use the Key Editor > Played Durations feature to “massage” the straight (and staccato) playback:
Played durations! Yes! Forgot about that. Thanks!

You can input rhythmic feel changes for individual instruments.

I keep forgetting just how broadly the marvelous OPT/ALT-ENTER applies — thank you for the reminder, @Lillie_Harris!
(@TheLarkShark, that is definitely the way to go! for Lillie)
